At the rate things are going, it probably wont be long before the stress hits mountain high.Wednesday, August 12, 2009 Scary coursemates stressing me out, though i should take a BIG BIG LEAF from krys and totally ignore these crazy kiasu people and compete with myself. Day 1 into university, things are not too bad, but not too good either. Just as i expected, but i still wish things to go abit smoother. And i'm just talking about academics. Just glad to have friends along with me on his 4-yr rollercoaster ride called Pharmacy. Just satisfied to know there are people i can rely on to listen and comfort me. Was thinking of a short statement as my "Personal Motto" which i have to submit as part of my scholarship award presentation item. And i considered certain points which i thought i had to include: 1) i wanted to incorporate something along the lines of "i can achieve what i what if i believe in myself" without sounding too cliche. 2) i wanted to include a point to tell myself that i should and always will care for the good friends around me. 3) and lastly, i want to always remind myself that i should always appreciate everything in my life (including friends of course) and make an effort to stay positive about now and the future. And i came up with... "LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF, YOUR LIFE & PEOPLE AROUND YOU WHO MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON." More and more often, for good or bad (more bad i think), i think i'm becoming increasingly difficult to understand because of my "split" personality - different personality with friends of different levels and at different times. All these stem from my own cynicism and insecurities, which made me realise it's important that i should always treat myself well. In short, do what's best for myself. Learn to love your own life is sort of an extension of loving yourself by doing what you like and following your passion and achieving them with your own bare hands. Plus, it's to remind myself to always see the good in life, complain less and life will be much more easier to pass. The last line is my favourite part of the personal motto. I deliberately singled out "people around you who make you a better person" because these are the people who really mean alot in my life and i cherish them alot. The ambiguity of the phrase also means it can be anyone - friends, mentors, teachers - as long as they make a positive effect in me and my life. Exclusive yet inclusive. I think this personal statement is quite appropriate for me. So thought i'll share it, though i dont think i expressed it as well as how i personally feel it. Hopefully some of you think the same way as i do. I'll be happier knowing that i share the same sentiments as you :) music.city.soul || 7:47 PM || 0 comments |
