This Hong Kong trip was a birthday gift to myself. And the fact i've been dying to travel this hols despite many attempts, so i jumped on the chance when it showed up haha.Friday, June 18, 2010 For 5 days (13th June to 17th June 2010), i guess it was pretty much sufficient to discover Hong Kong, even though i didnt get to go to Macau (not part of the plan anyway haha). Yes, HK is about shopping and eating, and more shopping and eating like what was advertised. But, less glam than what i thought haha. enjoyed the chance to see and experience different stuff :) 7 points about HK: 1) Dripping Air-Con Water EVERYWHERE That's the main thing i will always remember of HK. haha. Regardless where you went, you will definitely be "assaulted" by the dripping aircon water from literally anywhere. Seriously haha. I had to make sure i wash my hair every night! 2) Shopping! I'm counting on my overseas trip to buy me my new clothes from now on, the first time i really shopped for stuff in a long time since my US trip. We visited lotsa night markets and shopping centres and spent most of the time walking until our legs and back ached like crazy. and we still went on caused the night was still young haha. 3) Panda Love I'm glad i managed to see the highly endangered chinese treasure, the panda, in case *touchwood* anything happened to it. And they're pretty adorable big fat and lazy, sitting down munching their beloved bamboo snack. Reminds me of Kungfu Panda, man that was hilarious haha... 4) HK Celebrities Well, having visited LA Hollywood, how can i not visit the Asian or so-called Chinese Hollywood. Called the Avenue of Stars, there was also a walk of fame for our dear Chinese celebrities. I also visited the Madame Tussauds in HK, just to feel abit more of the Canto scene haha. 5) Old and Congested! Hongkong looks very old, and very much congested compared to singapore, though we're smaller? haha... Looking at their "HDB" flats, you cannot believe how they can actually breathe. And i realised, the ceilings in HK are super short - in shopping malls, hotels, buses... everywhere. I feel so tall in HK :) haha 6) Ocean Park So called the biggest attraction in HK, having heard about it numerous times in those HK drama serials, it was a must-go attraction for me. But it was quite a let down considering most of the rides were less than thrilling. Definitely didn't satisfy the adrenaline rush i hoped to get. But it was still fun to be able to sit on those rides once in a while :) 7) Tian Tan Buddha / Skyrail 360 Seeing the Buddha was one thing, but the journey there was a whole different experience. The skyrail to see the Buddha was long and took us to much greater heights! Into the clouds really! At some points, it was so misty we couldn't see any other things haha... We went on a windy day as well so it added to the fun haha... shaky cabin! BONUS: 8) Meeting a look-alike! :X Meeting a previous colleague look-alike in HK was pretty funny haha. And the two guys trying to put words into my mouth about being sarcastic to that colleague! :X hahaha... Guess i really do say the things people don't dare to! :) music.city.soul || 11:44 PM || 0 comments |
